Even though it's made of plastic, it's well constructed, especially the base, which is rock solid. Takes a bit of cranking on the screw to get the camera fully seated, more than my battery grip. The monitor swings out smoothly, with detents for rotation. Has a built in swivel HDMI connector, which I haven't seen available anywhere (I'd love to get another one, or 10!). Mine also came with a 90 degree 1/8" / 3.5mm adapter for audio in the outer box, most likely since there's no room to put a straight plug into the audio jack.

On to the screen itself, it's nice and bright, with great colors. I could even calibrate it so it matches my PC's calibrated display. There's no guesswork in setting exposure. What you see on the monitor is what you'll see on your PC. Lots of settings available to tweak it to your preferences. Flips the picture automatically when you rotate to 180 degrees, and the included sun shade (which is very nice) is even reversible.

The only down points on this product is that it doesn't come with proper battery (just a bad adapter), and its hard to screw to the camera. But aside that its a great product! Very nice crisp images, with focus assist, you can rotate the screen like the t3i.

My expectations for this product was pretty low, a "good" DSLR monitor with a swivel mechanism for less than 1/3 of the price of some of the other big name monitors? I pulled the trigger on this as an impulse buy because I needed a bigger screen for my new set-up.

I opened the box and plugged it in and to my surprise a really nice image came up on the screen. I find the pop up lens hood to be super awesome and useful, even indoors when the glare from lights can be distracting. I have used this product only with my glidecam 2000HD / Smooth Shooter set up so far and it has been great. I did choose to mount the monitor on the cheese plate separate from the camera which gave me a more even distribution of weight for balancing. I read plenty of reviews about the camera not staying mounted on this thing very evenly, so I chose to not even deal with that and mounted the two separate.
