I wanted a camera to supplement my Canon Rebel (an older model with fewer megapixels and no special features.) The Sony had so many attractive extras, I decided to give it a try. Here's what I found:

This camera is astonishing in its features. It does just about everything except make coffee and feed the cat. There is, for one thing, a built-in GPS so you can geotag your photos (that's simply amazing to me. I started photography with an old Zeiss Contax rangefinder, no meter. I had to estimate the exposure or use a light meter. In half a century, the advances are breathtaking.) But beyond that, you can make hi def films with stereo sound (so this doubles as a vidcam), has 16 megapixel resolution, autofocus for various types of scenes, and scene detection (group of people? portrait? landscape?) so your camera can optimize the settings for the type of picture you are taking.
